The Project

A challenging mixed-use development located in the Bathway Quarter of Woolwich, a historically sensitive location next to the Grade II listed Woolwich Town Hall. The development comprises of the demolition of the former Grand Theatre and Regal Cinema and the design and construction of a concrete framed building, providing 34 private tenure apartments, including four wheelchair adaptable units together with 455sqm of community space.

Designed in a contemporary style, the building takes architectural cues from the adjacent Town Hall and surrounding areas, contributing to the regeneration of the local area. The external façade consists of brickwork, aluminium cladding, aluminium and timber composite windows and doors with structural glass balustrading to the balconies and terraces. The development is heated via individual gas-fired boilers and PV panels.

A communal courtyard has been formed in the centre of the development and each apartment is provided with a desirable sun terrace or balcony. At ground floor level, we have provided shell and core space ready for future fit-out as A3/A4/D2 commercial use.

The scheme has been designed to achieve Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 for the residential units and BREEAM ‘Excellent’ for the commercial space.
